Phil Mickelson, five times winner of a Major tournament and three-times US Masters champion, has withdrawn from the US Open 2017 in order to attend his daughters graduation.
The pro golfer had hoped that weather conditions might postpone the tournament and allow him to attend both, however as tournament went ahead, Mickelson withdrew and flew home to attend the graduation.
Mickelson said to the New York Times “As I look back on life, this is a moment I’ll always cherish and be glad I was present,”
Mickelson, who will turn 47 on the day after the graduation, is replaced by the mexican golfer Roberto Diaz.
