First Bulgarian sattelite in orbit.

Friday evening from Kennedy space center in Floria, Bulgarias first sattelite was launched into space. The launch was operated by SpaceX for Bulsatcom, a Bulgarian internet and TV provider.

BulgariaSat-1 first started life on the drawing board 10 years ago, and is the culmination of innovation and hard work for a large team of engineers. With the launch, Bulgaria hopes to establish themselves as one of europes leading space nations and pave the way for the industry benefits that may follow.

While the sattelite is already in space, a number of testing, configuration and placement manouvres has to be completed before the sattelite is operational. The sattelite will be positioned 36.000 km (22.000 miles) above earth and will be in operation for up to 20 years.
